Moon Journal

Your daily diary entries can be as simple or as intricate as you wish. Sometimes, just a single word can beautifully capture how you feel at any moment in your ever-changing cyclical nature. It’s important to remember that you can communicate in many different ways—whether through drawing, jotting down a line from a poem or song that you love, recording your voice, or exploring any other creative outlet that resonates with you.
After three months of tracking your Moon Cycles, I encourage you to visit The Moon Dial to help you organize your findings.

Date and Season
Indicate the date and the Element of the Season we are in. For example: March 22, 2025. Spring. Wood.
Moon Phase
Draw a little symbol to show if the moon is full, dark, waxing or waning. If possible, look up into the night sky to connect with the Moon’s “face”! Allow yourself to envision the unique energies of each phase; these may take on the form of ancient goddesses, of people you regard as archetypes for each phase, or of music, animals or abstract patterns.
Day in Cycle
If you are still on your menstrual cycle, start the first day of bleeding as number one; if you don’t know which day you are on, continue with the rest of the entries until you start your next bleeding.
Emotions
Record how you feel during the day. If you find it challenging to articulate your emotional state, take a look at this comprehensive list of feeling-related words created by the Non Violent Communication organization.
Body Feelings
At least once a day, take a moment to tune into your body and ask, “How does my body feel to me right now?” You might find that certain body parts naturally draw your attention, or perhaps your curiosity will guide you to explore areas within yourself that you wish to connect with. This audio recording can be your starting point.
And if today, you don’t feel inclined to do this body noticing exercise, that’s perfectly okay—simply record this observation in your Moon journal.
Energy Level
Is there anything noteworthy about your general energy level today? – dynamic, sociable, low, withdrawn… You can explore some other descriptive words here that might help you express what you’re experiencing.
Dreams
If you remember your dreams, write down the key themes or vivid images as soon as you wake up, as they often slip away quickly. You can also replay your dream in detail until you have the chance to document it in your journal.
Even if you don’t recall your dream, make a note of this in your diary; every observation is valuable.
Creativity and Sexuality
We all have the capacity to create, but how we relate to this potential depends on the awareness of our creative energies as we move with the Seasons and the Moon phases.
For those of you who are on your menstrual cycles, you may notice how the changing nature of your sexual hormones throughout the month influences your creative expression. For those of us in menopause, we may notice subtle, yet very palpable shifts in our sexual and creative energies as we cycle with the Moon.
Look at your sexuality: do you feel sensual, loving, giving, spiritual, erotic, demanding, lustful, wild, aggressive, neutral, empty, none…?
This daily noticing is not so much about how often you have sex, but rather to pay attention to your feelings of sexual energy and the forms they take.
Enjoy the Moon Ride!!!
