Council Practice

The Way of Council is a form of communication and practice that fosters attentive listening, authentic expression and creative spontaneity.  When we feel “seen” and “listened to”, we are much more inclined to use our authentic voices and to express our true feelings.

Council Circles are an ancient practice that has been revitalized in modern times as a way to foster deep connection, empathy, and collaboration among human and other-than-human beings. The intention behind these circles is to provide a brave and galvanizing space for people from diverse backgrounds and perspectives to come together and share their stories.

In Council, we gather in a circle, creating a sense of equality and belonging. We take turns to speak and listen from the heart, sharing our experiences and emotions. The circle itself serves as a container to hold and honor each being’s unique voice and perspective.

As the stories are shared, a remarkable thing happens. We begin to realize that despite our differences, we share common threads of our human experience. We recognize the interconnectedness of our journeys and the collective wisdom that emerges when we speak and listen from the Heart.

Council Circles provide a unique space for us to come together, share our stories, and collectively explore the meaning of what it is to be fully present in this cycle of our lives. It is through this process that we discover the beauty of our shared being-ness and our capacity to co-create a more compassionate and inclusive world.
